MODO SCULPTING

Modeling(01:39:23)
In this 501 training video we are going to look at the new multiresolution mesh sculpting that becomes available thanks to Pixar subdivision surfaces. Different than painting displacements or normal maps, we are going to experience sculpting on real polygons, at different levels of detail, reaching nearly 6 million polys. We are going to see how and why we can begin to create things that we only dreamed were possible in the old days of polygon modeling. Get ready for a whole new level of detail work in modo sculpting! MODO NATURE II: SHAOLIN

Modeling, Shading, Texturing, Lighting and Rendering (01:42:17)
A few weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to visit the Shaolin Temple in China. While riding the trolly high above the misty Song Mountain, I witnessed some of the most gorgeous natural scenery I have ever seen. It all gave me incredible inspiration to create. I had to know what kind of techniques would be needed in modo to bring about the high rock cliff faces interspersed with plant life. What could be done with sculpting, displacement maps and 3D textures to make the kind of scenes I was witnessing viable in 3D? How would I shroud it all in the beautiful mist I saw rolling over the mountain there? These questions and more are all answered, step by step as we create such a scene in Modo Nature II: Shaolin!
On this training, Terrence shows us his techniques on terrain modeling, through sculpting, the use of replicators to populate the scene with realistic trees, lighting and rendering. (1 video)
