ASKING TO GET EATEN?

It seems that the Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology has created, of all things, a robot dinosaur! Why on earth would anyone make such a thing. I mean, right now they are slow and cumbersom, but like all things technological, they will improve right? Then there will be running, and screaming and biting.

I must admit I have always loved the idea of a theme park ride with perfectly realistic robot dinosaurs in action, chasing the patrons around. Now that would be fun, right? You can see a video of the robot dino in action by clicking here.

Remind me to stay away from any theme parks sponsored by Studio ArtFX!

That's actually some amazing movement for biped robots. Will be very interesting as they're able to increase the speed.

I saw a show on the Science Channel about the evolution of robots. They were discussing how difficult it was to create a biped robot. During the walk cycle the weight is always on one leg requiring tiny adjustments that have proven difficult to recreate with robots.

I think Honda's robot, ASIMO, is the most gracefull biped out there. Don't know if you've ever seen footage but there some out there where ASIMO is being pushed and it adjusts its weight accordingly to prevent it from falling. If I didn't know any better I'd swear it was a dude in a robot suit.
