GETTING CHEAPER?

Is it me or are Tablet PCs getting a lot cheaper? I don't know how it might be in the U.S. right now, but here in South Korea I am seeing some amazing prices on some very nice models. An awesome, nice sized tablet PC can be had for less than $1000 now. I remember that I payed almost $3000 for mine when I first bought it in 2005. Now similar tablets at similar processing speeds are very cheap. Some of the smaller tablets are as low as $400 or so.
Now it must be understood that my tablet was a 1.5 Ghz processor with only 1GB RAM. I am sure there are much better and much faster tablets that are still quite expensive, but if you're goal is drawing comics or doing or 2D animation, that tablet I had was more than powerful enough, even for HD. Today, though, I am seeing 1.7 Ghz tablets of similar size and screen quality for 900,000 Korean Won, which translates into about $650 in today's exchange rate. Others get up to about $935 or so, but they are rarely over $1000 total. More than that, they look good!
Although I have practiced and gotten pretty good at drawing with a separate tablet on my Macbook, one day I was sitting here drawing with a pencil and I had forgotten how big the difference is. My drawing with a pencil is still far better than anything I can do on a WACOM tablet. The only thing that comes close, was using my Tablet PC in the past. Drawing directly on the screen changes everything. I want that feeling back and I am seriously considering getting another tablet PC just for that purpose. I don't know when or how that will play out, but if I get it, I will surely post about it and some new work done with it here.

400$ isn't bad for a tablet! not bad at all. I have found some online that cost 2000 dollars, ahh!
